WELLBEING OPPORTUNITIES
‘TOAST TUESDAY’
THANK YOU to
Bakers Delight in Heathmont
and Woolworths in Eastland
for supporting our Toast Tuesday by providing bread and spreads and juice for our students on Tuesday mornings.
We are very grateful for the generosity of Bakers’ Delight Heathmont and Woolworths Eastland for their support of our Toast Tuesday program. We are also grateful for the parent and teacher volunteers who have filled the roster to assist on these chilly mornings until the end of term.
From the weekly pick-up of Bakers Delight bread and rolls on Monday evenings, we are also able to make available these items to families on Tuesday mornings.
If you would like your family to be included in the weekly allocation, sent home via your child, or collected on the Tuesday morning, please email me, and I will allocate what you would like if available. These usually include sour dough or multi-grain bread and rolls, plus other items such as pizza bases, and bread sticks. This was week 1.
Aussies are great when people are in crisis, whatever the reason. Food plays an important part in our culture, and we are looking to create 2 opportunities of support for our school families. One is to collect EMERGENCY FOOD ITEMS for families who need an extra help. We plan to begin a collection of non-perishable goods, to be collected in my office. These items will be put into emergency hampers as needed.
Here is a list of suggested items:
Canned - Meats, Stews, Vegetables, Beans, Spaghetti, Soups, Tuna and Salmon, Fruit
Peanut Butter, Honey, Vegemite
Tea Bags, Coffee (ground, no beans)
Hot and Cold Cereals
Rice, Sugar
Cake Mixes, Pancake Mix
Long life Milk
Packaged Pasta (Macaroni & Cheese, etc.)
Juice Boxes, Canned Juices
Granola Bars, Cereal Bars
The other way is to provide EMERGENCY MEALS. We have created a MealTrain roster on-line, where volunteers can choose to cook a meal to be delivered to school on a Monday afternoon. Here is the link if you would like to share your culinary skills with a needy family. It will run from the start of Term 3.
Our main suggestions are that the meals be healthy, that they be provided in disposable containers/trays, and can be easily reheated. Please go to the link for other helpful notes. If we receive a request relating to special dietary needs, we will alert the rostered cook.
‘GRPS gives a Helping Hand’
Please contact your child’s teacher [or myself] if your family is would appreciate a meal.
