3/4 News

We hope you gained some insight onto what we are doing in class this term from our video presentation last week and that all the Mum's were as spoilt as they deserve for Mother's Day. We had fun creating your gifts which were made with a lot of love and that you treasure them. On Friday, it was also fabulous to have some Mum's visit us in the classrooms. How gorgeous it was to see the children's eyes light up seeing their Mum come through the door. The children loved showcasing our classrooms.

NAPLAN:

Big shout out to the Year 3's for their positive attitude towards this window of time we call NAPLAN. We were so pleased with their attitude, showing VERY little stress or worry at school. We explained this is just a snap shot of who you are as a learner it does not define you as a person. Just do your best!

We thank our Yr.4 students who have been so supportive and co-operative with their peers during this busy week. They worked productively in the library developing their writing skills with Miss Levy.

Kinder Visit Program:

What has quickly become highlight for our students, we paused our visits to the local kinder due to NAPLAN. Mrs Pennington took the Tuesday group last week and meet Nina and the Blue group. We hope you enjoy looking at some of the photos and reading her account.

Literacy

We completed our focus on persuasive techniques and 3/4CM enjoyed eating their OREOs as a reward for great paragraphs. Just for the record, OREO is a writing technique we use in the middle-school.

We are looking forward to moving onto our Poetry unit and developing our creative skills.

Maths

Our next unit is 'money' and we will begin by investigating our currency and who or what is featured on the various notes and coins, then calculating change using our understanding of decimals and the four processes.

We are also  continuing  to practice our multiplication facts with our Hit-The-Button Challenge and hope that they are remembering to do some practice in their homework routine.

Inquiry& Religion

We have formed groups and selected our biome to study. Now the fun of researching begins. This is a new skill for many, so we provide prompts and scaffolding to assist with what they need to find out. Please make the opportunity to do some reading with your child while researching at home. Share the discovery of new information together in finding websites about their biome. This can be recorded in their diary as 'nightly' reading too.

Remember that many websites may not be written for children to understand, so add, 'for kids' to your topic in the search bar can help.

Classroom Helpers

Thankfully, we can now welcome parents back into classrooms as helpers. If you are available and willing, we would love you to join us in the mornings. Remember, you will be coming in to help with a group and may not necessarily be working directly with your child. There is a roster outside each of our rooms or you can email your teacher and we will pop you in.

Homework

Please note the current grid date has now been extended to Monday.

If there is a reason for it not being completed just leave a polite note in their Homework book.

As always, we are happy to meet and discuss your child or any concerns, so please don't hesitate to contact us via email to set up an appointment if necessary or come find us on the oval when we dismiss the students in the afternoon.
