RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Last Wednesday over 700 students and staff from Sacred Heart, St Mary’s and St Brendan’s celebrated Cathoilc Education Week with a very special Mass led by Fr MichealThe children and staff came together for a morning tea before participating in some fun activities within their year levels in the St Mary’s playground, the oval and at the Botanical Gardens.

Yesterday we began celebrating National Reconciliation Week. How blessed we were to begin our week with Dr Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM addressing all the Sacred Heart students and staff at our Monday morning gathering.

Throughout the day each class had the opportunity to ask questions and spend time with Miriam as she talked about reconciliation, Indigenous culture, art and wherever the children’s inquiring minds led her.

The ideas for the artwork came predominantly from our children during discussions with Miriam. From there she designed and sketched symbolic  messages before painting. This beautiful piece of artwork will be erected purposefully at our front entrance so we can all connect and know we belong here as we enter Sacred Heart.
