Ensembles Back in Business! 

 Last Friday saw our combined senior band and orchestra, along with the choir, taking part in the wonderful Mother’s Day Mass at Rosehill Racecourse. This performance would have been, for many, the first such opportunity in nearly two years and for some boys their first experience ever. 

They played and sang wonderfully, and I was both pleased and proud with the way they came together as a group. For the instrumentalists, it could well have been the youngest group the College has seen perform in this capacity for a long time – with one Junior School boy and many currently in Year 7. This bodes very well for the future and reflects the depth of talent we currently have; bringing in enthusiastic young boys into our band and instrumental program is crucial for its success and survival.   

We now turn our attention to two upcoming band and orchestra competitions – The Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival in July and the NSW State Band Championships over in Penrith in August.
