ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day was indeed celebrated albeit from people’s driveways.

The significance of this occasion did not go unnoticed and we remembered and recognized the significant sacrifice made so that we could live in freedom.

I applaud efforts made by so many students and their families to ensure we commemorated this occasion with dignity.

In the Music section of the newsletter there are a few of the links to musical talent of students who helped communities commemorate.

I would like to acknowledge and thank Chloe James(ex student), Matthew James (ex student) with the help of Grace James (Year 11) and Michael Birkett (ex student) for doing such an amazing job in their corner of the world.  Such a beautiful way to remember.

Lest we forget!

MCK50

MCK50 is a challenge set up by the PE faculty. They are challenging the school community to get involved with physical activity for 50 days. Monday to Friday they release a new exercise session or challenge and encourage participants to track their progress in the MCK50 log book.

The participation has been huge with 417 people signing up which includes 334 students and 83 staff members and their families.

It is indeed a wonderful way to keep the community connected.

I thank all involved for their efforts. (I wish it was MCK20 – I am really so unfit!)

REMOTE LEARNING

Again, I wanted to express my gratitude to staff who have worked tirelessly to make remote learning possible.

Obviously nothing will replace a teacher in the classroom with students but everyone is doing their very best to deliver exceptional learning under difficult circumstances.

There are clear expectations for all students and we thank parents for assisting us in addressing concerns as they arise.

Routine is so important as are good sleep habits, exercise and staying connected (even virtual connection is beneficial). I do count our blessings and I know this adversity will pass.

It has been joyful to receive such wonderful supportive messages and emails from so many families.

We hopefully will never again have a pandemic, however, the opportunity for families to stop and ‘smell the roses’ for families to spend time together and re-connect – for families to enjoy the more simple things in life. For all of us to stop running from one thing to another.

We obviously want to re-connect with friends, but for now I find it joyful to look out and see families walking the dog together, laughing and just being together.

Enjoy the blessings this adversity has brought.

May you and yours remain safe.

PREMIER’S VCE AWARDS

The Premier’s VCE Awards recognise the outstanding results of individual students and pays tribute to the principals, teachers and families who play a valuable role in supporting these students during their VCE studies.

I am always honoured to attend this wonderful event but unfortunately due to the coronavirus there will be no gathering this year.  However, we can celebrate the amazing achievements and results of these young people, their teachers and parents.

Congratulations to the following students on receiving a Premier’s VCE Award:

Jared Abidi for Top All-Round VCE High Achiever and Computing: Software Development

Caleb Gering for Economics

Camille Meric for French

David (Qiyue) Lu for Further Maths

Betty (Yinghui) Wang for Music Investigation

These results are absolutely marvellous and I wish all students much success for their future studies.
