Beachside Swimming

On Tuesday 10 March, 15 swimmers and two wonderful helpers headed to Oakleigh Pool to enjoy the warm sunshine to compete in the Beachside Swimming Competition. Nine schools were involved and the atmosphere was lovely. MGSC came 5th overall! Our students all participated and were happy to fill vacant swimming spots for students who were unable to swim on the day. Our students swam well and this reflected in their results. The swimmers on the day were: 

• Year 12 - Megan Blignaut
• Year 10 - Georgia MacMillan, Mia Schroen Amelia Hall, Atlanta O’Connell, Jemmah Paton, Lily Shipham and Georgia Vicary
• Year 8 - Shylo Lothian, Jordyn Dobbyn, Ella MacDonald, McKenzie Nowak, Isabel Petersen
• Year 7 - Kate Ovenden and Chloe Winders

Lily Crofts and Lily Ward (Year 10) represented MGSC by assisting and helping the 

Chief Judge. They were kept busy all day. Thank you! Congratulations to Shylo Lothian who came first in the Girls 14  50 metres freestyle.

School and Interschool sport 

Unfortunately with the current situation we have, our House Athletics carnival was postponed. We are in the process of finding another suitable date and will keep you informed once this date will be known.

As directed by the Department of Education all interschool sport will be cancelled for the time being which includes the upcoming Year 7 round robin. Again once more information comes to hand, this will be communicated with both students and parents.

Year 8 Round Robin 

Friday 13th ... a potentially unlucky day for some, but not for the Year 8 Interschool Sport Teams! The Year 8s had a very successful day out progressing to the next round in softball, tennis, volleyball and cricket! Congratulations to all those who took part in these teams.

I would like to thank staff members Julian Day, Becky White, Emma Holman, Phil Hull and Jackie Mathews who have given up their time to select, coach and support these teams.

In addition there have been some superstar Year 9 and Year 10 student coaches helping out. They are Kasey Brown, Daniella Chryssafis, Jemmah Paton, Elloise Prior, Candice Prior and Amelia Hall. Thank you for the energy and enthusiasm you brought!
