Learning for Life
Welcome to the Secondary School at Yarrabah
The staff across the secondary school would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child in 2020. Students are settling into their new learning environments and the staff are excited to be getting to know your child.
In the secondary sub school we offer a diverse and individualised program catering for all students to develop their self-esteem, maximise independence and communication with a focus on real life learning. In the secondary school we individually tailor each student’s program and support needs to prepare them for their future pathways.
We use a collaborative team teaching approach across teaching, therapy and education support staff, to deliver a wide variety of programs, maximizing staff strengths, knowledge and experience.
We aim to build strong student / staff / family / carer relationships. The partnership between home and school is vital for maximising each student’s learning outcomes and enriching their well-being.
In the final week of school last year a social story was provided to each student with information about the class teachers and education assistants that will be working with your child.
We would like to take the opportunity to introduce a number of staff with specific roles across this secondary sub school. Please see over leaf for more details.
We look forward to working together with you and your child.
Yours sincerely,
Lisa Wilson
