P.E. Overview

Foundation: Students in the Foundation area  have made a great start to their P.E lessons. We have focused on practising their fundamental movement skills through active play. From this, we are building towards incorporating these movement patterns into small team games

Year One-Two: The children in these year levels are practising the underarm throwing skill. They are doing so by rotating through different stations which involve throwing towards a target using different equipment and working with a partner to execute the throw and catch technique. This will then progress into small team games.

Year Three-Six: In week one we completed our fitness testing component and it was great to see everyone really pushing themselves. We have now moved straight into training for our upcoming athletics carnival which is on 21/03/2020 at Sherbrooke Athletics Track. We are beginning with the field events which involve Long Jump, High Jump, Discus and Shot Put. Students results will be recorded and kept to help make a decision on who will represent our school at the district carnival in Term Three.

We look forward to sharing with you the benefits of engaging in positive physical activity.

Swimming Carnival

On 10/02/2020 we hosted our Year Three-Six Swimming Carnival at Belgrave Outdoor Pool. It was fantastic to see the students giving their absolute best and representing our school in such a positive manner. As a result of this event, we now have nineteen students who will go on to represent our school at the District Swimming Carnival on the 21/02/2020. We wish all of these students the best of luck on the day.

A special thank you must go out to our parents helpers on the day who undertook the roles of timekeepers. Without your support we cannot run such events.

Here are some positive comments from our students who participated in the event;

“I liked how everybody was really supportive of each other”

“Having the opportunity to swim and try out for district was amazing. I was very proud that I could dive in!”

“It was the first time I have done the event, and it felt good to have the opportunity to swim against my school mates”

National Ride to School Day

You may have noticed an increased amount of students who are riding their scooters or bikes to school, which is a great way to engage in physical activity.

We have also been very proud to say that our students have been increasingly aware of how to be responsible users when inside our school grounds.

Please see below an upcoming date, which we are promoting across our school.

Improving our Sporting Facilities for use at  Recess

We have been working hard with our school community to increase the sporting facilities across our school, with the most exciting recent projects being a new cricket pitch and goal posts pads.

Thank you to our House Captains who have been looking after and setting up the pads each day.
