YEAR 10 JAPANESE EXCURSION

Year 10 Japanese Excursion

To put our comprehension of the Japanese language into action, the Year 10 Japanese class spent the 13th of September in the city competing in “the amazing race Japan”.

The rules were simple, in groups of 3 or 4, read the directions (in Japanese) which lead to a certain Japanese location. Afterwards, take a photo of each destination with all group members present, whoever has the most photos at the end, wins. “It is a competition”, he told us. To us, it sounded like war. The moment the teacher said “go”, we frantically read the Japanese instructions and set off to our destinations. Reading the directions was the easy part, we were taught this very well. However, when did we learn how to read maps?

Through trial and error, deception and alliances, all groups learnt to develop these skills and we ventured to some Japanese sections of the city. Despite getting lost a couple of times, we learnt a valuable skill: asking strangers for help.

With the help of others, learning how to read maps and our developing Japanese skills, we managed to all meet back at the designated location. Just in time for lunch!

We walked to a Japanese restaurant and each ordered a dish in Japanese. The food was incredible!

Our whole class can agree that this excursion was a whole lot of fun. Not only that, but we learnt some life skills, which would have been difficult to learn if not for this excursion.               Please enjoy all the memories we made.
