PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Good afternoon everyone,

I have had a great two weeks settling in and getting to know staff and students.

I have been lucky enough to join Deb Fisher and the grade 4 students in art, where I learnt all about colour mixing and produced my very own piece of abstract art.  I learnt to sequence and match numerals in prep with Cathy Burns, participated in a Respectful Relationships lesson with grade 6 and challenged the grade 3s in down ball.

In addition to this I have been engaging in multiple meetings with staffing teams reflecting on data sets and discussed differentiation within each lesson and the work done to support each individual students.  I have been impressed with the collaboration and collegiate nature of all staff and look forward to working with them more closely.

We are currently just reviewing programs for next year and look forward to communicating this with you as we confirm plans for 2023.

I would like to introduce Willow to the community.  Willow is my 8 year old Labrador and she loves coming to school. Willow is an extremely calm dog, that is amazing with children and loves to listen to students read.  She also likes to get active outside with movement breaks and having students throw the ball for her.  She has an amazing ability to support students to regulate and engage. I am very mindful of students who are anxious or nervous around dogs, and will introduce Willow slowly to particular classes, at all times supervised, certainly not placing her in an environment where students are uncomfortable.

I look forward to continuing to meet families in the Chilwell community.

Have a great week.

Meg
