Work Experience
Thank you to Mrs Andrews and Mr Gaiter for assisting many students in gaining valuable work experience over the September/October holidays in a huge variety of careers, from carpentry, to financial advising to the defence force - just to name a few!
Ben Kumaru, Year 11, recently had work experience at Microsoft, under the wing of Justin Cook, the State Manager for Microsoft and a parent to students at Marist College. Here he was exposed to the exciting technology industry and the passion of those that work within it. He enjoyed learning about the latest innovations in AI and its ability to change people's lives.
We extend a big thank you to the Old Boys, parents and community members who generously give up their time to host work experience and give our students valuable industry insight and connections. If you wish to be involved in this meaningful program, please contact Mrs Karen Andrews, andrewsk@marash.qld.edu.au
We are particularly looking out for work experience opportunities in the industries of: Health, Engineering, Media and Aviation. Thank you!
QTAC Applications Reminders
Great to see a large number of Year 12s have put in their QTAC applications and are hoping to get an offer for tertiary studies! If you have not done this yet, and are interested in going to university next year, it is vital to do this soon, and always check offer round dates and cut offs for the particular courses you are interested in. Ensure you know when the offer rounds are and that you are checking your emails at this time to respond to your offer! You can ask Ms Kenny for assistance with your planning, email kennye@marash.qld.edu.au and don’t forget you can always call QTAC with any questions on: 1300 467 822.
Please note – some universities have ‘early offer schemes’ to give you an earlier offer into university. To apply for Griffith University’s ‘Early offer scheme’ you need to have applied by 17 October CLICK HERE for more information, and to apply for QUT’s ‘Early offer scheme’ you need to have applied by 21 October, CLICK HERE for more information.
