Therapy Dogs

Tuesday the 4th of October was World Animal Day and to recognise this special day for all animal lovers, our therapy dogs Bentley and Magnolia were invited to visit AVEO Concierge, a lifestyle retirement village in Balwyn. They were accompanied by their handler Alex Gaythorpe and Joey Hazelton another member of our Milgate staff as well as two Milgate students Hermione (Year 5) and Kye (Year 6).
During the visit, residents were able to hear about the wonderful work our therapy dogs are doing at school and the processes that were involved in having them trained as certified therapy dogs. The students also gave an insight into their perspectives of having the dogs at school and the benefits they have seen and felt since they began.
The residents were amazed by the work the dogs have done at Milgate and loved hearing about the different applications the dogs can be used for.
Kyle and Hermoine did a fabulous job of introducing Bentley and Magnolia to all of the residents and it was very clear the residents all loved the attention, the dogs gave them in return.
