Konnichiwa, minasan! (Hello, everyone!)
‘YOUKOSO’ (Welcome) to the Upwey South Japanese Room!
Congratulations on the very successful production night!!!
Here is the update from the Japanese classroom.
Foundation: ‘Weather Report’ Foundation students have been practising the weather song with the tune of ‘The London Bridge is Falling Down’. They have been also answering the question ‘Donna tenki? (How is the weather?)’ with the help of the song, actions and props. The students also decorated their ‘weather-tree’ pages indicating different weathers. Excellent work!
Year 1 and 2: ‘MOTTAINAI BAASAN’ (‘Mottainai’ grandma) Grade 1/2 students have been enjoying the ‘Mottainai baasan’(‘Mottainai’ grandma) videos and ideas to promote sustainable ways of living. They have been practising naming many animals with the help of the trigger stories (mnemonics) and the gestures. The students are consolidating the vocabulary through fun games such as ‘Sensei says’ and memory card game. Keep up the good work!
Year 3 and 4: Hiragana Black Belt Challenge (Continued) Grade 3/4 students have been working to different Hiragana Belt challenges. They are learning the Hiragana letters using their ‘finger pen (writing in the air)’, trigger stories (mnemonics) and the Belt Challenge (‘Blooket’ and ‘Quizizz’ games). It is great to see the students enjoying each step of the learning!
Year 5 and 6: ‘MOTTAINAI BAASAN’ (‘Mottainai’ grandma) Grade 5/6 students have been enjoying learning about ‘Mottainai baasan (Mottainai grandma)’ on sustainability. They have been discussing the ways to protect the nature and resources. Although the students had been very busy with the production practice, they had been even more focussed and disciplined to learn the topic in a short period of time. Excellent work!
