Teaching & Learning 6H

6H has been busy this term!  We are reading The One and Only Ivan as a part of our reading program and have been focusing on a variety of comprehension strategies such as summarising and identifying the author’s purpose.

In Writing, students have been working on narratives and it has been pleasing to see how creative they can be, whilst using a variety of techniques like a ‘sizzling start’ to engage the reader.

In Numeracy, we have been learning about fractions and decimals and units of measurement.  The class enjoyed using a trundle wheel and one metre rulers to measure the length of different places/objects in the playground such as the basketball court and oval.  They then converted their answers between different units of measurement.

Students enjoyed a visit from St John Ambulance Victoria for a First Aid incursion.  The class learnt what DRSABCD means and how to perform CPR.

All of the Year 6 classes have been working on their dance routines for the upcoming musical, A Night at the Oscars. The students have been excited and eager to practise their dance moves, as they are looking forward to putting on a great show.
