Teaching & Learning 1C

MINI BEASTS.

Year1 classrooms are a buzz of activity as the students investigate, research, explore, and create MINI BEASTS.

Our inquiry topic is the overarching umbrella for our learning this semester.  The students are reading about mini beasts and using reading strategies such as facts and details to assist in their research skills.  Factual books are being navigated by the children whom are using the index, glossary and appendix to find relevant information on mini beasts.  Note taking is being introduced to the students as they listen to stories, watch videos and visualise mini beasts’ habitats in our environment.

We will be utilising our beautiful farm to search for mini beasts above and below the ground.  In August our incursion will give the students an opportunity to view and learn all about a wide variety of mini beasts.

Students will be creating a diorama which will showcase the habitat of their chosen mini beast.

All the activities we have planned will cover the preferred learning styles of students. Success and pride of accomplishment will be celebrated in the students’ learning.

Grade 1C students are very proud of their book work and have selected their favourite page to display in our photograph.
