First Aid Incursion

A few years ago, we began offering a first aid incursion to students at school.  This was incredibly well received and since then we have continued with this as the importance of learning first aid at a young age can be vital.  I wish I had learnt some of the skills our students have learnt and practiced when I was at school.  I thank Hayley from St John School’s First Aid program for facilitating our sessions!

Prep Enrolment 2023

I have sent out letters to families who have been successful in gaining a place for their child at Langwarrin Primary School to start Prep in 2023.  We warmly welcome you to our school community and encourage you to follow our newsletter and social media.  If you have any questions or queries about starting Prep please contact the office.

Attendance, Sickness and COVID

Our attendances (on average) are quite a bit higher than normal.  Isabella and I check the attendance daily and this is uploaded to the Department.  I do appreciate students staying home when they are exhibiting signs of a cold or flu to ensure others don’t contract it.  This time of year is especially tricky to navigate and even I have needed some time off with a cold (that seemed to last longer than normal).

We will continue to send letters home to classes where we have been notified COVID has been present and trust that families will continue to use RATs to ensure other students are not unnecessarily infected and needing to spend 7 days at home. Hopefully with winter coming to an end in a few weeks we may all improve but for now we will continue to take precautions including using air purifiers, keeping our windows open, using hand sanitiser and avoiding mixing of classes.

Staffing

I would like to welcome Christie Davidson to our office team.  Christie will be working 2 days in the office so please make her feel welcome when you see her.

Professional Practice Days

As part of the Victorian Government Schools Agreement teachers are allocated 4 Professional Practice Days per year.  Normally these don’t affect school operations however with ongoing staff shortages DET have allowed schools to run a pupil free day to ensure the VGSA is followed.  Our pupil free day will be Tuesday September 6th.  On this day our staff will be planning for the upcoming term.  Team Kids will be available should you require their services.

Have a great fortnight,
