Book Week in the JLA
This week the JLA have been celebrating Book Week in different ways.
We started the week with our Book Week costume parade and showed off all of our favourite book characters.
Then we were lucky enough to have a visit from illustrator Michael Salmon who told us his story and helped us to create some different drawings.
In our Literacy time, we have been spending time with each of the JLA teachers exploring a book that has received an award during Book Week.
With Jacqui, we read Walk of the Whales and tried our hand at following a procedural text to create an origami whale that would fit into the text.
With Natalie, we read Iceberg and created a sea mural inspired by the text.
With Nadia and Michelangela, we read Just One Bee and made honey joys from the precious honey we get from bees.
On Thursday we were extra lucky to have a visit from the author Lee Fox.
Why not ask a JLA student what their favourite part of Book Week was?!
