RNDM VISITORS

We were delighted that both Sr Marie Therese Ryder RNDM and Sr Kate O’Neill RNDM were able to visit the College earlier this week. The Sisters took the opportunity to join the Young Vinnies at a lunchtime meeting where the students presented Sr Kate with a donation for her upcoming work in New York. Following the meeting, Sr Kate spoke to our Year 8 students about her work with the homeless and disadvantaged children in Manila. She has been doing this work in the Philippines for the past 19 years and shared an important message for our students about using our gifts and strengths to be of service to others. We wish Sr Kate well as she awaits to commence her new position to work with underprivileged women in New York.

This week, our Junior Choir and Senior Chorale performed at St Mary’s Cathedral in the Sacred Choral Music section of the Spirit of the Arts Performing Arts Festival. Both groups performed admirably and the adjudicator’s comments were very complimentary, stating: “Well done on your dynamic contrasts making for a very effective rendition of this venerable hymn.” We congratulate all the students involved and thank Mr Mark Martino and Mrs Linda Anstiss for preparing the students for this event.

SUBJECT SELECTIONS

The process for subject selections for students in Years 10 and 11 for 2023 is underway.  This is a vital time for these students and their families as they consider important decisions for next year. For the first time, our Year 11 students can enrol in Curtin University's UniReady course for next year. This program will provide a pathway into Curtin University without completing ATAR subjects. It is particularly designed for highly motivated Year 11 students who have attempted an ATAR pathway but are achieving a predicted ATAR of between 65 and 70 or who have completed a Certificate 3 with A and B grades in their General courses. More information can be obtained from our Careers’ Counsellors, Mrs Julie Bertolucci or Ms Amanda Knox.

STRATEGIC PLAN

The College is now ready to launch the data collecting process of the Strategic Plan.  Parents and caregivers, staff, students and connected wider community members will all have the opportunity to voice their opinion to shape the strategic direction of the College for the next few years. A strategic planning survey link will be forwarded to all families today. I strongly encourage all parents and caregivers to take this opportunity to express their thoughts on the future of the College.

YEARS 7 AND 10 ASSEMBLIES

Students in Years 7 and 10 were presented with their Academic Honours and Sacred Heart Learner Awards today at their respective assemblies. My wholehearted congratulations to all students who received at least one of these prestigious awards. Recipients were acknowledged in the last Newsletter of Term 2 (HERE)

YEAR 11 LEADERSHIP DAY

I hope that our Year 11 students gained great value from today’s Leadership Day. For those aspiring to leadership roles as College Captains in 2023, I wish well them in their endeavours. I am looking forward to joining them at their Dinner Dance later this evening.

God Bless.
