Staff update – Learning Support and Enrichment

We are very excited to welcome Joanna Kane to Shelford this week, as our new Head of Learning Support and Enrichment. Joanna trained as a Primary teacher in New Zealand and worked for many years in this capacity. She moved in to the area of differentiation and learning support and enrichment, through her work at Westbourne Grammar. She then headed the Learning Differentiation departments at Ivanhoe Grammar and later at Lowther Hall, before working at Gateways Education, focusing on gifted education. Her most recent role has been at a coeducational school, in learning support and enrichment.

Joanna has three daughters of her own and is a passionate advocate for girls’ education. She is thrilled to be returning to a school such as Shelford, which is uniquely positioned to know all of its students as people and learners. She looks forward to working collaboratively as a team with all of the Shelford staff to differentiate for all students and to ensure that all students access the curriculum at the appropriate level. Joanna’s experience, wisdom and knowledge, and her kindness and professionalism, will be much appreciated by the Shelford community. She joins Monika Meszaros, who is an exceptional educator, who has made a significant contribution to our programs and practices in this area.
