Assistant Principal's Message

Curriculum Day

On Friday 22nd July our teachers and education support staff attended a Curriculum Day. The learning on the day was a continuation from the March Curriculum Day focussing on the assessment processes using Lyn Sharratt’s ‘Assessment Waterfall’ along with Dylan William’s ‘5 Key Strategies of Formative Assessment’. The teachers and educational staff worked with our Educational Improvement Leaders to delve deeper into the variety of ways teachers can give instructional feedback to students. They also looked at the variety of ways that students can give feedback on their own learning and the learning of their peers.

Feedback is one of the ‘High Impact Teaching Skills (HITS)’. High impact teaching strategies are a bank of 10 instructional practices that are internationally recognised as some of the most reliable teaching strategies for delivering learning outcomes. HITS have emerged from the findings of tens of thousands of studies on what has worked in classrooms across Australia and the world.
