CONGRATULATIONS TO ABBEY CALDWELL

Congrats to ex Milgate student, Abbey Caldwell on her Bronze Medal in the 1500m at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. We all watched her race at our Zoom assembly on Monday and it was great to have all the Milgate students support her.

TRASH FREE TUESDAY

Congratulations to 5CC for having 0 pieces of rubbish for our Trash Free Tuesday. Our mascot Ernie Earth will be happy to join you in your classroom for the week.

FOUNDATION STORYTIME

It was wonderful to see so many prospective Foundation students join our Storytime today in the library. They had a wonderful time reading a story and completing an activity, while their parents got to know each other in the staffroom. We look forward to welcoming more students to Storytime in the coming weeks.

WELLBEING

Our fortnightly SWPBS focus is We are learners - follow the iPad usage agreement. Students will complete a lesson from The Cybersafety Project as well as revisit the agreement and reflect on the purpose. This is a great opportunity for you to discuss with your child using technology in a safe and purposeful way.

HANDBALL AND HOTDOGS

The Fathering Project - Milgate Dads and Kids Event

We are excited to hold our first ‘The Fathering Project - Milgate Dads and Kids Group’ activity for the year. We will be holding a Handball and Hotdogs event at the school on Thursday 15th September. This will be a great opportunity to bring fathers and father-figures together with the aim to inspire and equip fathers and father-figures to positively engage with the children in their lives – for the benefit of kids. The Fathering Project delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of dads and father-figures. This will be a casual event where students and their dads/father figures can play against each other whilst chatting and getting to know other dads from the school. Students are welcome to bring their own four-square ball to play with, and some of the older students will be on hand to assist with the rules on the day. It should be a great evening and we look forward to seeing you there!

BOOK WEEK

2022 CBCA Book Week theme is ‘Dreaming with eyes wide open…’ and as a celebration of this the Junior School Council will be organising a dress up day on the 22nd of August. Students are encouraged to wear their comfiest clothes including hoodies, oodies, trackpants and all the things that make them feel cozy and bring a gold coin donation which will go to the Aboriginal Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.

There will be further updates in next week’s newsletter, as the JSC has been busy organising some different ways to celebrate and connect to community.
