National Day Against Bullying

This Friday is National Day Against Bullying. Along with our work in School Wide Positive Behaviour and the Respectful Relationships program, staff and students have been exploring resources developed for this extremely important topic.

Every Day Counts

Going to school, on time, every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school on time, each and every day.

If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.

There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes.

Rolling Facilities Evaluation

Every 5 years, schools get an onsite condition assessment organised by the Victorian School Buildings Authority, known as the Rolling Facilities Evaluation (RFE). The RFE gives schools comprehensive information about the condition of their assets every 5 years. The RFE delivers regular assessments of the condition of buildings and other infrastructure such as car parks, footpaths and fencing at all Victorian government schools. The rolling facilities Evaluation is taking place on Friday 18th of March.

Visit from Tim Read and Ellen Sandell

Yesterday Trish, Jane and Keith met with Ellen Sandell who is the current state member for the seat of Melbourne and Tim Read, who is the state member for the seat of Brunswick, and the school’s local member. We toured the school and discussed the various facilities and building issues that are priorities for us as a school community. We renewed our call for additional funding for the school in this year’s state budget. We were reassured that a special submission has been made to the Treasurer for his consideration. We will await the outcome in the budget which is projected to be in May this year.
