Foundation Spotlight

Not so long ago we said goodbye to long lazy days and ice creams on the beach and said hello to our first day of school!

With full lunchboxes, fresh uniforms and wide smiles, the children took each moment of their first few days in their stride.

Initially, Foundation students had many wonderings about how school worked. For example: Where will they put their bags, what do the bells mean, how will they find the toilets, when will they go to library and when, oh when, will they meet their buddies?

Our first few weeks have been filled with new friendships, exploring the playground with buddies, and settling into the new classrooms. The vet surgery, ice cream shop, supermarket and building zones have been of particular interest to many of the students. A whole fairy village has sprung up in one of the classrooms, complete with post box for writing letters to and receiving letters from the fairies. Another grade has been working on making puppets and creating a theatre for shows. Children have also relished chances to learn new games, such as Race to Trace and Rhyming Bingo.

The Foundation children are now equipped with their own reading folder and diary and are eager to share their books with their families, taking their first steps toward learning to read.

Thank you again to our parent community for preparing your children so wonderfully for their first experience of school. We are looking forward to an amazing term with this fantastic group of children.
