Health and PE classes across all year levels at Vermont Secondary College have made a great start to 2022 and have demonstrated a keen appetite for all things Health and PE!
Highlights across junior year levels include;
- Year 7 students demonstrating their athletic prowess undertaking a range of track and field athletics events and impressing with hitting and fielding skills, team work and fair play throughout T-Ball. In Health classes, students have demonstrated maturity and respect when discussing mental health and wellbeing, relationships, and completing a goal setting assessment task.
- Year 8 students have worked towards setting personal bests across athletics events, further enhanced their ball skills and striking skills across softball and indoor cricket and continuing to think strategically and play cooperatively in team environments. In Health classes, students have contrasted the dimensions of health and wellbeing and researched the benefits of physical activity and how it supports these dimensions culminating in designing a Gym brochure to promote physical activity.
- Year 9 students completed a range of different community fitness activities and discussed the benefits for both their health and wellbeing and enhancing individual fitness components. A report was completed on this topic. Year 9s have just completed a unit of Volleyball demonstrating a high level of skill and competitive spirit and are now commencing Tennis to continue developing their skills in ball and net sports. In Health class, students have developed a physical activity promotion campaign to ensure that all Australians are meeting the physical activity guidelines and prioritising their health and wellbeing.
