VSC 60th Anniversary

2022 marks 60 years since Vermont Secondary College opened its doors. 

To celebrate this milestone, the College will be inviting past students and staff to return to the school on Thursday 5th of May. From 4.00 – 6.00 pm, there will be celebrations, speeches and supper. This is the same night as the College Open Night which will also provide former students and staff an opportunity to view the college on display after the anniversary celebrations. More details to come soon. 

Cycle 1 Reports and Student Progress Conferences

Parents will be able to access the Cycle 1 Reports through their Compass Parent Portal at 5.00 pm on Friday April 1st. Parents/Guardians will also be able to book Student Progress Conferences from this time. 

Student Progress Conferences will be conducted remotely via the Student Teams account on Wednesday April 6th from 1.00 – 8.00 pm. 

Video calls will be made to the student account at the booked time and parents/guardians and students will participate in the interviews from home. 

No classes will be conducted on this date. 

VSC House Athletics Carnival

The Annual Vermont Secondary College House Athletics Carnival is only a hop, skip and a jump away and will be held on Friday 18th March at the Bill Sewart Athletics track in East Burwood (at the rear of Nunawading Basketball Stadium on Burwood Highway).  

All parents and guardians are invited to attend on the day to support their children and must sign in with VSC staff on the gate at arrival.   

This is a whole school event and no classes will run on the day. 

All Year 7 to 12 students are required to attend the Athletics and actively participate. 

Students should dress up in their house colours.    

All students must have given consent on Compass to attend the event. 

If for any reason your child will not be attending on the day, please enter the absence on Compass as Parent Choice before 8.45am.  

The House Athletics event is always a great day. The more participants and involvement from the students the bigger and better the 2022 carnival will be. 

It would be great to see all students participate in at least two events!  

Please note that students will compete in age groups – NOT year level groups. 

The age groups are taken by the age of the student as of December 31 2022. For example, if they are turning 15 this year they will be in the 15-year-old age group.   

The college canteen will be operating at the track (CASH ONLY) but all students are advised to bring a snack and a drink bottle. They may also choose to bring lunch but strictly no ordering delivered food from external providers.  Also keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately. Please ensure that ‘slip, slop, slap, seek and slide’ is the order of the day and this must include a hat and water bottle. Additional sunscreen will, as always, be available at the sports. Students are also reminded that under OHS guidelines, thongs as footwear are not permissible and runners would be the appropriate footwear for the day.  All students will be taken by bus to the track at 8:45am. Students will be dismissed on arrival back at VSC between 2:30pm-3:10pm. 

Students are NOT PERMITTEDto sign out of the athletics carnival early. Students are required to attend the entire day and support their house.  

Students are NOT PERMITTED to travel by car to the event and must travel to and from the athletics track in the school buses.
