Prep Pizza with the Principal

Last Wednesday we had our super 'Pizza with the Principal' event. We ate pizza,  the preppies performed "If I was a butterfly", shared things about school, played Kelly Sports and the parents shared information and questions with the school.

Parent feedback

We took the opportunity to ask some of our parents some questions about St. John Vianney's and they gave some very good feedback. When asked our question about 'Why did you choose SJV as your child's school?' our parents responded with very positive answers. Here are some examples:

  • Word of mouth, good reputation
  • Good feedback from friends and family
  • We really like the school culture and the diversity
  • Quality of education and the facilities
  • Catholic school
  • The Literacy program and educational support
  • I/we went here / generational
  • Welcoming feel

When asked: 'What has been good for your family so far' some parents responded:

  • Support for kids as individuals
  • Warm welcome from staff
  • Our daughter is really learning
  • Communication has been great
  • Quick response to concerns
  • Seesaw
  • Orientation process
  • Children love it

And, 'what could be even better' (with a response) - some parents responded:

  • One fixed number for SMSs - We looked into this but unfortunately, our system (like most systems) doesn't allow this function. Every message from school does start with 'SJV'- .
  • Carpark is tricky to navigate - We ask everyone to be patient and care for others. We understand that there is a wait time and we do our best to manage this as good as possible.
  • More insight in the syllabus covered in classes - We teach according to the Victorian Curriculum and the RE Curriculum framework. These are free to lookup online. We are currently planning further opportunities for parents to be involved in the learning of the student. As soon as restrictions ease further, we will look forward to welcoming you to the classrooms and buildings.
  • More parental involvement - We understand that this has been a difficult part for many schools over the last two years and we acknowledge that this part of SJV has taken a hit during this time. As stated in the response above, we are planning further involvement to occur soon. We are reinvigorating the PFA and hope to organise more formal and informal opportunities for parents to get involved at SJV.

Thank you so much for attending the 'Pizza with the Principal' night. we really appreciate your efforts in coming down and joining us.
