A Message from Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present and emerging.

Meet the Staff -

This week, we would love to introduce our amazing Foundation team to you all. This year, our Foundation team has the lucky opportunity of being the first classes upstairs in our new STELA building.

“Hi, we are the Foundation team at Brunswick North West PS. We are Cath, Jenny and Edie.

Cath has been teaching for over 10 years at various primary schools in Melbourne as well as International Schools in Tokyo and Berlin. She is passionate about literacy education and teaching Foundation kids, they are the best!  In her spare time she enjoys getting out into nature, hiking and eating vanilla slices at country bakeries.

This is Jenny's eighth year teaching and third year at Brunswick North West PS. Her special interests are centered around Student Voice and Inquiry Learning. Jenny's undergrad was in Science, specifically Zoology, she love animals and nature always tries to squeeze as many science experiences into her classroom as possible. Her background is half Sri Lankan and half English. In her spare time she enjoys going hiking and camping with her dog (Shadow).

This is Edith’s third year of teaching with experience mainly in the junior areas. She is passionate about promoting a growth mindset in numeracy and literacy and encouraging children to be lifelong learners. Before teaching, she worked in Fashion Design for local and international brands. In her personal life, she likes Pilates, weekends away at the beach, eating good food, and seeing local bands.”

Please say Hi to the team when you see them around the school.

Before & After School Supervision -

Please remember that supervision is only provided at school between 8.45am and 3.45pm. Due to the quiet nature of school in the morning, students are asked not to come onto school grounds until 8.45am while parents and carers are not allowed on site. As the afternoons have more movement across the school grounds, we can allow older children to use the school grounds in the afternoon, but we want to remind our community that there is no official supervision of students after 3.45pm.

Our exceptional OSHC service is available before school from 7.30am and after school until 6pm, with very low fees and loads of fun!

Parent/Teacher Interviews -

As we wrote in last week’s newsletter, our Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held online on Tuesday 15th March from 11 am, and for the first time will be held as student led conferences across the school.  We are very excited to be supporting the students to take part in these interviews. Teachers are working closely with the students to share some goals and to comment on their own growth. Normal classes will not be running on this day, and all students are expected to attend their conference online. Our amazing OSHC program is available for families who may need it. Communication about the day will come through Sentral in the next few days.

With Kindness
