Prayer

Prayer for the Transfiguration of Jesus

On the mountain you were transfigured, O Christ God,

And your disciples beheld your glory as far as they were able

So that when they would behold You crucified,

They would understand that Your suffering was voluntary,

And would proclaim to the world,

That You are truly the radiance of the Father.

Amen

Almsgiving During Lent + Project Compassion

To promote almsgiving at school this Lent, we will be engaging in fundraising events across Weeks 9, 10 and 11. Next week, Years 3 and 4 are organising a Lunchtime Disco in the Hall. Your child will be able to enjoy this disco for the cost of a gold-coin donation. More information about the disco, and other upcoming events, will be distributed to families via the Newsletter and St Xavier’s Facebook page. This Lent, students will also learn about the vulnerable communities that Caritas have helped previously so they can see the difference their almsgiving makes.

Upcoming Feast Days

Today, we celebrate the Feast Day of St Patrick. St Patrick is an important person in the Catholic Church’s history as he converted thousands of Irish people to Catholicism across his 40 years of service. He is known for using the Shamrock leaf as a way to help explain the Holy Trinity to the people of Ireland. St Patrick is significant to Australia due to our strong Irish identity with the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.

Then, on Saturday this week, we will be celebrating the Feast Day of St Joseph. St Joseph, as we know, was betrothed to Mary and was Jesus’ foster father. Most of what we know about St Joseph comes directly from the Gospels. St Joseph is significant to us as our local parish is named after him.
