Physical Education

In our lessons this term we have a whole school focus on Striking and Fielding Activities. For the Prep/1/2’s we are learning the Fundamental Motor Skill of Forehand Strike and 2-Handed Strike. Students will gradually develop the use of these skills in small sided games, learning to cooperate with teammates and show good sporting behaviours.

In Yr 3/4 we are introducing Cricket and learning the specific skills and rules used for this sport. Students will be using the strategies they have learnt in small sided modified games where they will demonstrate their understanding of rules and good sporting behaviors.

In Yr 5/6 we are also focusing on Cricket with the introduction of the Cricket Blast game format where students will develop their knowledge of the rules and build confidence in their ability to score and umpire matches. They will also have the opportunity to play in a Gala day against other local schools.

A reminder that HATS are compulsory for the Spring and Summer terms and will be vital for our lessons, most of which will be outside. Students are also encouraged to bring their water bottles to lessons and be suitably dressed for physical activity. The weather is often cold in the mornings but by 10am the sun can be very strong, students are often too hot after running around and need to wear shorts or t shirts. These can be worn under tracksuit bottoms and jumpers so that students can take off their top layers during lessons.

Sport

Congratulations to all the students who competed in the Divisional Athletics at Meadowglen Athletics Track in Epping on Wed 18th September and thank you to all the parents who helped transport the students to the event.
