Principal's News

Dear Families

It's been an exciting start to the term with our grades engaging with their new Inquiry units and lots of new families joining our school over the past week. Trinity was so popular, a swarm of European Honey Bees joined us Monday afternoon, ready for Prep Orientation. Thanks to Ben's Bees who arrived early Tuesday moving to remove the swarm.

Welcome to our 2020 Preps

It was so lovely to see our new Prep families at the family orientation session on Tuesday. Our new Preps settled in nicely into their learning session. We look forward to seeing them again over the next  3  Tuesdays.

Camp & Transition Night for Year 5/6 Parents

As mentioned in the previous newsletter there will be a camp information night this Thursday.  There will be a short meeting following the camp meeting to discuss transition and scholarships for Year 5 parents. The meeting will be held at 6.30pm in the Library.

Walk and Ride to School Day

Thanks to Lorraine for organising another great Ride and Walk to School Day. Riding and walking to School has become so popular here that in recent years we have had to find bigger areas to house our bikes.  Please see Lorraine's note below for more details.

CBC St Kilda Scholarship Interviews

CBC Interviews were held today for Year 5 boys applying for the 2021 CBC scholarship. Thanks to all the boys who applied and the the CBC staff who attended. The feedback was very positive from the CBC staff who spoke very higfhly of the boys who were interviewed.

School Board Nominees

Nominations are open for anyone who might be interested in joining our School Review Board. School Board is a great way to support our school by helping to shape the management and planning of the school. The Board consists of family representatives, a parish representative, our Parish Priest, Deputy Principal and Principal.

There is a commitment to attend 1-2 meetings per term which are held on Tuesday night at 7pm. If you think you might be interested in joining our Board, or have further questions, please speak to Lindy Smith or myself to discuss.

If you would like to nominate for the Board, please download and complete the brief nomination form below and return to the office by Friday, 1st of November.

Home Learning Review

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter, attached is a survey to get parent input into our Home Learning. There are diverse perspectives amongst our parents, students and staff about the importance of Homework, and the extent to which it supports the learning progress of our students.

In forming a revised policy, we would like to consider parent opinion, and also try to ensure that what we come up with balances staff/parent expectations and current research.

Please access the survey from the link below, or via the notification that will be sent through Skoolbag.

It is hoped that the revised policy will in place for the beginning of 2020.

Thanks everyone- have a great week!
