Principal’s Message

Annual Improvement Plan Review

We reviewed our Annual Improvement Plan recently which is an excellent opportunity to reflect on our achievements in 2020.  Our key priorities were to continue to embed effective pedagogical practices (teaching) to improve student outcomes and well-being.  Our student data demonstrated the work we have done as a high quality teaching team with above expected growth in reading as evidenced in our PAT-Reading results.  Our PAT-Maths results also demonstrated improvement with more than double the expected growth in Stage 2 and 3.  We also exceeded the Armidale Diocesan average in the Year 6 Religious Education Test. One of our major achievements this year was to see the completion of the building project and transition into the learning spaces effectively.  The efficiency of our learning timetable, the effectiveness of our teaching team combined with the flexibility of the spaces has helped support our students across K-6.

Presentation Assembly

Due to the restrictions Covid has brought us this year, we will not be having our usual format for Presentation Evening.  This year we will recognise the achievements of our students at a morning assembly on Tuesday 15th December in the school hall.  Parents will not be able to attend the assembly this year but we will post photos on our school facebook page.

This year has been unique in all the changes we have had to make but, hopefully, there has also been a slowing down for families and a time to reconnect.  As we head towards the end of the school year and commence the Advent season, we think about all we have to be grateful for - our health, our families, our homes and our work.  Advent is a time for reflection and preparation for the coming of Jesus at Christmas as the symbol of hope for all of us.  I hope you can find some time to reflect on what gifts 2020 has given you - both expected and unexpected.

Have a wonderful week.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
