The Year of HOPE
Time had arrived to farewell our Year 12 cohort on their final day. We chose this opportunity to discuss HOPE. A topic that resonates for 2020. Hope is a word we all use daily. We hope for a better outcome in all aspects of our lives, “I hope to have a better day, I hope to feel better soon, I hope to do well in my exams, I hope to have an amazing career.” So what is HOPE? It is one of the Christian virtues and is acknowledged on the first Sunday of Advent (29 November 2020). We define Hope as a belief that our tomorrow will be better.
In Romans - 15:13 it states:
May the God who gives hope, fill you with great joy. May you have perfect peace as you trust in Him. May the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.
God sent us His son and this Hope will empower our capacity to believe in our faith and ourselves.
How do we action Hope? What does it look like?
Hope is a light that brightens dark times, it is the belief that circumstances will improve. However, it does not happen on its own; we do not Hope and wait, we Hope and action. In our life ahead, there will be times of celebration and challenges and our belief in our faith, family and future will guide us. It can be achieved by setting goals, which will motivate us to recognise a pathway. Hope will also guide us to identify options, opportunities and solutions. It provides us with efficacy, which is the belief that we can make things happen, via our pathway to achieve a goal - our Hope.
Hope needs courage and our ability to be proactive and empower our self-worth and talents, our gifts from God. Hope is to be brave. It is the wisdom and experience that we will use to guide us throughout our days ahead. Our voices are valued and we do not allow challenges in our life to doubt our capabilities. We embrace them to grow and our courage will highlight, the light in today and tomorrow.
We reminded our students that they must always remember; they are part of a school community which is proud of them and loves them. We have seen them grow into amazing young people.
Our Hope for them is they are always blessed with good health, love and happiness. That their success and gratitude in life will blossom in all their actions and they strive to be their best.
The students were reminded, “When you lay your head to rest each night, that you reflect on your day. You humbly acknowledge your celebrations, and with bravery, you accept your challenges as growth. That the belief of hope brings light, faith and love to your next day.”
Our school community has had a year of challenges and may the wisdom and experience of 2020 guide us all throughout our days ahead.
