Year 12 student results

Your VCE study scores, ATAR and VTAC Scaled Study Scores will be available to you via the Results and ATAR website and the Results and ATAR app. All current VCE students will receive a statement of VCE study scores from the VCAA. However, only students who have applied for courses through VTAC this year and have paid their VTAC processing fees will be sent an ATAR statement in the mail.

How to access your results online

The VCE results and ATAR Service will be available on 30 December, 7am.

To view your results online register online at  resultsandatar.vic.edu.au using the instructions provided there. Note: The Results and ATAR service log in details are different from your VTAC ID and PIN. VCE students can access their ATAR in the VTAC account.

Year 12 students applying through VTAC – Change of Preference

Change of Preference (COP) gives you the chance to add, delete and reorder your university and/or TAFE preferences. If you receive an offer, you will be offered the course highest on your preference list you are eligible for (you have met the ATAR and selection criteria requirements).

It is also the last chance you have to make sure your preference list reflects what you would like to study in the future. After receiving your results and checking these against pre-requisites for courses in your preferences you have until midday January 4th 2021 to make changes.

Experienced GSSC staff will be available on campus (both McGuire & Wanganui) to support students with their Change of Preference when results are released - full details of these arrangements will be provided to Year 12’s closer to this date.

Each of the Universities and TAFE’s will provide on campus as well as online services to support students through this time. A COP resource is available at this link https://www.gssccareers.com/newsletter/file/22283 which provides details of options available and links to the COP services being provided by Institutions.

New Program Initiatives coming to GSSC

GSSC have two new initiatives commencing in 2021 offering options for students who require additional support, benefit from a hands-on learning style or are unsure of their future career options.

Project Ready’ will commence in 2021 as a VET alternative for a small group of invited students who will benefit from a hand-on life and work readiness program designed to assist our students find their feet and get ready for the work of work. Run offsite each Wednesday at a location close to Wanganui Campus, Project Ready will provide enhanced options for our Senior Students as they progress into senior year. More information can be found at https://projectready.vic.edu.au/parents/

We are also proud to announce that we have partnered with the National Food Institute to provide supported School Based Apprenticeship (SBAT)options for our Yr 11 & 12 who are ready to enter the workforce and would like the option of working two days per week in a fully supported program. Again, this program is targeted at offering opportunities to students who will thrive in an environment that supports a small cohort and provides additional support to our students. Students will complete a Cert II in Warehousing & Logistics across 12 – 24 month period. Working alongside GV Connect this will be a fantastic addition to GSSC curriculum in 2021. A video of the program currently running in Melbourne can be found by clicking the following link https://vimeo.com/429619404/59955c5efa

Employment, Gap Year and Scholarship opportunities

We’ve been busy promoting opportunities daily to the GSSC Careers Facebook page. Many of these opportunities are time dependent with deadlines required. If you are not familiar with this Facebook group please ‘like’ and ‘follow’ the page and feel free to share posts across our community.

Career Insights program

Our Year 9 Mooroopna Campus students are participating in the Career Insights Program. This is an online personal and career profiling assessment commonly known as Morrisby. Students who have returned their permission forms, take part in the program which consists of two parts. The online assessment followed by a personal interview with a Career Practitioner to explain the comprehensive report, which outlines students profile to jobs and studies for their future. This information will be valuable to students as they start organising work experience, subject selections, employment and study.

VCAL Work Placement

Over the past few weeks we’ve had both Year 11 and Year 12 VCAL students out on work placement. We understand the critical role placements and experiences of work play in clarifying career options and creating employment opportunities for students. Unfortunately, the highly disrupted nature of this year has meant that fewer businesses are in a position to host placements for students. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of our local community who have been able to assist.
