Identity and Mission

Anthony Chapman

It has been a busy start to Term 4, with lots of activities and projects underway, and plenty more to come. A big thank you to all those who supported Crazy Sock Day, an initiative of Catholic Mission, which works to reduce poverty around the world. The students enjoyed being able to bring a bit of colour to the day with their socks, and all money raised will go towards supporting people around the world seeking to develop their communities.

A number of our Year 7 classes have been visiting Holy Spirit Church as part of their T&S lessons. Whilst some of our students are very familiar with what goes on inside a church, for others it is a new experience. Thank you to Fr Brian and the Parish for being so welcoming.

Our Year 8 students have just finished their STRIVE Enrichment Days, which included a walk around the city exploring the impact that women have had in the development of Hobart. It was certainly apparent as we walked around that there is still a long way to go for our city to fully embrace our past with regards to Tasmania’s Aboriginal community, as well as the people who are struggling to find secure housing. As a school we need to continue to walk with those seeking justice and compassion, and to do what we can to assist.

Prayer for All Saints Day

Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us.
Bless the memories of your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love.
Amen
