College Sport

Nikki Stuart

Welcome to Term 4 and a host of new sports for students to participate in.  It’s a very exciting term, with Mount Carmel involved in a huge number of rosters and events.

JSSATIS Tee-Ball

It’s very exciting to see a Year 3/4 Tee-Ball team participating in the JSSATIS roster after many years of the College not being able to fill a team.  Thanks to the dedication of parents Louise Ims, Rachel Sylvester and Hayley Stevens, the team came together.  With the assistance of Year 9 students and former tee-ballers Grace Haas, Macy Fooks, Alex Mulley and Anna Cosentino, the team has been training Tuesday lunchtimes and has quickly learnt the basics of the game.  Coach Louise is doing an amazing job on game day, and the improvement is showing, after just two games.  Good luck for the remainder of the games Tee-Ballers!

JSSATIS Touch Football

The JSSATIS Touch Football season commenced last week, with three Year 5/6 teams participating.  Most of the players are having a go at touch football for the first time, so the first week was about learning the game, some new skills and tactics.  Their improvement was already evident in this week’s games with plenty of fun and laughter along the way.

JSSATIS T20 Cricket

Mount Carmel teams were out in force at the opening on the JSSATIS T20 Cricket competition on Monday afternoon at Soldiers Memorial.  Two Year 6 teams, a Year 5 and a Year 4 team are participating this season, which is fantastic to see.  There was a combination of returning players and new players to the game, but all with excitement and enthusiasm for this modified game of cricket.  Thanks to our volunteers who will be facilitating the games each week.

STCPSSA Athletics Carnival

Good luck to the Mount Carmel Primary Athletics team who will compete at their first interschool event next Friday at the Domain Athletics Centre.  The STCPSSA Athletics Carnival brings together all the Catholic Primary Schools for a range of track and field events.  The following Thursday, the team will return to the Domain to compete again in a slightly different format, against the Independent Schools at the JSSATIS Athletics Carnival.

All Schools Track and Field

Congratulations to the athletes that competed in the Southern Regional All Schools and Tasmanian All Schools Track and Field Events over the past two weekends.  Some impressive results from Bailey Van den Broek, Jessica Bray, Avalon Forbes, Bella Quin and Sophie Jones.
