PRINCIPAL REPORT

From the College Principal

Today I want to write exclusively about our wonderful Year 12 cohort.

Whilst our final-year students entered began 2020 with high expectations about the academic progress they would achieve, they were, of course, greatly anticipating experiencing all the other events and opportunities which would mark their final year at school. After COVID cruelled their chance to experience these rights-of-passage, it was natural for our Year 12’s to feel grief, frustration and even anger. We grieved with them.

What is remarkable is that the group has maintained their drive and focus so well in the circumstances they found themselves in. They adapted to remote learning, and their commitment to their studies remained constant, even as we all went up and down on the COVID roller-coaster.

I want to make a particular point of acknowledging and thanking our College Captains: Maeve, Sam, Darcy, Lucy, John, and Nancy. They always stayed positive and solutions-focused, even as it became apparent that most of their plans would be stymied by remote learning. That they were able to discharge their role with cheerful persistence is a testament to their character. Please accept my sincerest thanks.

To our graduating class of 2020, I want you to know that even though you have been Impacted by COVID this year, your life prospects are still very much full of positive and rewarding outcomes and experiences. It is the personal decisions you make, and the actions you take, that will determine the future you have.

I wish you all the very best for your future. Work hard, treat others well, and always take opportunities in life when they present themselves to you.

Good luck with your exams!

Yours sincerely,

Richard Minack

Principal
