Food Technology

On Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th of November the grade 5 classes at Carwatha had an introduction to food technology where they were taught some of the safety and hygiene issues that arise when working in the kitchen.

They were able to go into the kitchen and participate in a practical activity where they were introduced to some of the equipment that is used in the kitchen and were able to make a dish. The dish they made was a fruit salad where they were taught how to use a chef's knife, the correct way to cut food with the chef's knife, the safe ways to handle the chef's knife and the safe way to wash the chef's knife. The students were able to enjoy their fruit salads once they had finished cleaning up.
