News From the Principal
Dear Families,
Staffing Information
I would like to congratulate our Business Manager, Natalie Griffiths, who has won a position at Charles Campbell College for the remainder of the year. Natalie will commence the position in the next couple of weeks. It is a higher duties role and thoroughly deserved by Natalie. We wish her all the best in her new position.
In the meantime, we are in the process of appointing a person to the role and hope to have this finalised in the next couple of weeks.
2018 Classes
At the moment, we are beginning to look at numbers of children for 2018 so that we can begin the class placement process. It would help our planning if you know of any changes for next year (if you are moving etc.) if you could let the front office know as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any families considering enrolling at Largs Bay for next year, could you please let them know to contact us at their earliest convenience.
Thank you for your support.
Sports News
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those children that have been involved in, or about to be involved in, sports finals. I understand that some have already won their grand finals and others are about to play in them. It is a rare opportunity that we get to play in finals and I wish all of you the very best.
Congratulations to our 80 students who competed in the District Cross Country trials at Semaphore earlier in the week. We had a number of students who will go on to represent our school at the State titles.
Special thanks to Mr Burge and parents for all his training sessions after hours.
Walkathon
Next Friday 22nd September is our 2017 Walkathon.
The walkathon is the major fundraiser for Largs Bay School and is held every second year at Largs Bay beach.
Children gain sponsors based on the number of laps completed.
Important Times:
10:00 Depart School via Lincoln, Junction and Roslyn Streets
10:30 - 10:50 Recess (at beach)
11:00 Start Walkathon
12:00 Complete Walkathon
12:10 Depart beach for school
As with any outdoor event all children will have to wear an appropriate hat. School uniform and enclosed shoes for walking or running the course should be worn. Children will need to bring a drink preferably water for the Walkathon. These drinks will be placed in a class box and taken to the beach and placed in a designated area.
Last Day of Term
With the end of term rapidly approaching, a reminder that we finish at 2.00pm on Friday 29th September following our assembly. Weather permitting, we will hold the assembly outside in Yard A.
At the assembly, I will be presenting the Outstanding Achievement Awards.
We look forward to seeing as many parents and family members there as possible.
A newsletter will also be going out on the last day of term.
