Senior School Report

What’s Happening

There is so much happening in Senior School!

Our Year 12 VCAL students have finished and are in the process of getting ready for TAFE, work or apprenticeships. Our Year 12 VCE students are in the final stages of their exams, our Year 10 and 11 students have finished their coursework and almost all of their semester exams for the year, and we will commence our Head Start program to prepare our students for their 2020 studies shortly.

Valedictory Dinner

It was with great celebration that the Senior School team was able to farewell the Year 12 students at their Valedictory Dinner.  Together with their loved ones, the efforts and perseverance of the students was recognised to complete their certificate of studies before, for many, their final exams.  Many thanks to the staff who attended and, in particular, Ms Vicki Manioudakis for her hard work in organising the event.  It was a fantastic night and enjoyed by all!

Our Year 10 and Year 11 students have now finished their Semester 2 exams.  I encourage all students to reflect thoroughly on their work and their teachers’ feedback, in order to continue to build and develop into the following year.  I would like congratulate our students for the preparation and diligence they demonstrated throughout the Semester 2 examination period.

Year 12 Residential

Information and forms have been provided to the 2020, Year 12 students regarding Year 12 Study Skills camp (Residential), which will take place 3-4 February 2020.  We ask that these forms and payment is returned promptly to assist in our planning.

Head Start

Our Head Start program commences on Monday 18 November, with the focus on preparation for 2020.  It is, as the name suggests, a ‘Head Start’ on their VCE/VCAL studies.  Students will have the opportunity to receive exam feedback, as part of the program, and are encouraged to examine the areas of strength that they should maintain, areas for improvement and, most importantly, strategies to improve.

A copy of the Head Start timetable has been handed to students and is available on Compass.

We are looking forward to working with all our students throughout the upcoming program as we prepare with excitement for the year ahead!

Forensics at KIOSC

Forensics at KIOSC was fun (and fancy dress!)

Year 10 Science students were on the case solving the “murder” at KIOSC in October.  Attractive HAZMAT suits that matched beautifully with our gloves and safety glasses were handed out as well as lab coats.  Students then carried out UV visible spectroscopy, soil analysis, lie detector tests, blood analysis, finger printing/ dusting for prints, FaCebook and phone record analysis. The crime scene was able to be viewed in virtual reality.  It was really fun and engaging…..and did I mention how fantastic we all looked on the day?
