Friday Afternoon Sport
Friday Afternoon Sport in term one has seen students from West Beach Primary School visiting Henley Beach Primary School each Friday to play softball against various teams from surrounding schools. Although the first few rounds were cancelled due to extreme weather, it has been a very successful series of games with West Beach Primary School competing well against all opponents. Students thoroughily enjoy the experience and always demonstrate great 'sportsmanship'.
Next term we will be hosting schools here at West Beach Primary School.

Sports Vouchers
Just a reminder related to the Sports Vouchers Programme which is a State Government initiative administered by the Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS). It is an opportunity for primary school age children from Reception to Year 7 to receive a $50 discount off sports club/membership fees. All families with eligible children in South Australia will receive a letter through school (or home if home-schooled) informing them of the Sports Vouchers program and how it works. Sport providers can then offer a $50 discount on fees and subsequently be reimbursed by the Office for Recreation and Sport.
Each eligible child can access a $50 voucher which can be redeemed to offset the cost of membership fees for participation in a minimum 10 week sports program. The discount cannot be used for equipment purchase or a one-off ‘come and try’ type event. Attached below is a PDF copy of both the 'Parent Letter' which outlines how the voucher can be used and a copy of the $50 voucher.
Parents who have questions regarding the administration of the Sports Voucher Program may wish to visit the website listed below which contains instructions on how clubs are able to claim reimbursement etc.

Rugby Clinic
Students from West Beach Primary School participated in a 'Mini Rugby Day' facilitated by members of Rugby SA. All students in the year 4/5 and 6/7 classes enjoyed the skills based sessions which ran in the morning. A mini games carnival then followed which enabled students to put their newly developed skills into practice.

Thank you to Matt Mulree for arranging this exciting learning opportunity.
