Public Speaking

Yesterday Sophia Fraser (Year 4) and Isabelle Barber (Year 5) competed in the Lion’s Junior Public Speaking Competition in Nurmurkah and were outstanding representatives of our school.

Both students competed against 7 other students in each of their divisions. We are proud to say that Sophia came Runner’s Up in the Year 3/4 section and Isabelle came Runner’s Up in the Year 5/6 section. This was a great achievement in their first Public Speaking Competition. Congratulations Sophia and Isabelle!

Errol's Cricketing Success

Errol Burns in Year 8 has recently been selected to take part in the Cricket NSW Academy, a State-wide program responsible for the identification and development of talented cricketers.

Errol was selected for the Cricket NSW Riverina Zone Academy in May this year following a summer of playing in representative cricket carnivals.

Errol's cricket club, Moama Cricket Club, nominated him for the Southern Riverina U14's representative team to play in Barooga last October.

A successful carnival saw Errol take hauls of 5/6 and 5/18 across 3 games played, and winning the U14's Player of the Carnival.

This led to Errol's selection in the U14's Riverina representative team at the Kookaburra Cup Carnival played in Griffith in early January and more importantly the U13 Riverina representative team to play in the NSW State Cup Challenge in Dubbo in late January.  Errol's team finished runners-up in a carnival of 8 teams representing all regions of NSW.

As a result of his success, and the ability and endeavor he showed during these carnivals, Errol was rewarded with an invitation to train with the Cricket NSW Riverina Zone Academy, a squad of 20 boys aged 13 - 18,  over the winter months.

This involves attending training sessions in Albury each month, which provides the boys with access to the highest calibre coaches, sports science staff and facilities, as well as mentoring from elite players to develop and nurture talent in the junior ranks.

This is a great experience for Errol and an excellent opportunity to develop and grow his cricket to take it to the next level. We look forward to seeing Errol's cricketing career continue to develop!
