India Service Trip Preparation

Over the weekend our students heading on the India Service Trip took part in a training day. The day began with some team building activities focussed on developing our group identity, understanding the importance of communication and problem solving. The next section was on cross-cultural training which was understanding Indian culture. Exploring the difference between Australian culture and India was done through students thinking about how they would respond in situations and discussing why. They would then explore how people in India would make their decisions.

Students were joined by guest speaker from Mukti Mission Australia who also explained what the Mission is like in India and the types of activities students would be involved in.

The day finished with an Indian banquet purchased from our local Indian restaurant, the Curry Club. This was done from the floor and without cutlery as would happen in a village situation in India.

Students had a great time bonding, expanding their knowledge of Indian culture, wearing traditional Indian clothing and enjoying great food!
