Year 7

Grandparents Day
On Monday 12 September our Year 7 Beda Boys invited their grandparents to a day of fun, learning and acknowledgement. It was a great time for the students and their grandparents as it was a time for bonding with one another. We had a good turnout of around 400 grandparents which was great too see.
Early in the morning we had some morning tea with our grandparents. This was a great opportunity to have a meaningful conversation, eat some biscuits and have a cup of tea. Our grandparents had the opportunity to catch up with our teachers, old friends or make some new friends. After the morning tea we gradually moved to the Chapel. Next, the grandparents and students were treated to a special liturgy at the school chapel. This was a great time to pay respect to all of the things that grandparents do for us. This allowed the students to remember and recognise how our grandparents influence our lives and provide us with their wisdom.
This prayer service included teachers and students giving readings and prayers directed to our grandparents. Not all the readings and prayers were personal directed to each and every grandparent, the students had the opportunity to write a letter, thanking them for all the great moments they've had together. After all the thank you's from the grandparents to their grandson's, they were provided with a quick photo summary of our amazing year so far before moving off to a student hosted tour.
The students got to show their learning environment to their grandparents and there were too many facilities to see. The students showed their grandparents the flexibile learning area which took their eye by how bright and amazing it was. The students also showed the work that was displayed on the walls. All of the grandparents were very proud of their grandsons work, which also shows how well all of the students had done in class. As well as the students showing their grandparents their work and classrooms, they also showed their grandparents all of the sporting, drama and music facilities.
Overall the grandparents enjoyed their tour of St Bede's College. After a great day of fun, students were treated with a early finish to spend personal time with their
grandparents. As 2016 has shown, 'Grandparents Day' is still considered one of the best days of the year.
