Welcome back to returning students and families of KCC and, of course, to our new students and families. The commencement of term one of a new school year can be a time of mixed emotions of optimism and even excitement to return to school. There can also be challenging emotions that hopefully ease as the term continues. Having a good routine (sleep, nutrition, study, family time, work, exercise and other commitments) does not on its own guarantee success at school, it is an important base for us all. During the holiday period, like adults, young people can often escape the usual routine of the school term and adapt a more relaxed schedule. This can provide a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind. Where possible it is beneficial, once back at school to adapt a routine that works best for each student considering what also works within their family and for their individual circumstances.
For students whom may upon reflection not had a useful routine last year it is great timing to reflect on what may have worked in the past, what they would like to change and how they will manage this.
In addition to adapting a healthy routine, there are some useful survival tips for Year 7 students as they commence high school, that also serve as a useful reminder to students in older year groups.
