ACER PAT Testing For
Year 7 To 10
Next week all students from Year 7 to Year 10 will be undertaking ACER PAT tests. Students will be tested for their level of achievement and skill in reading, mathematics, writing and general ability. The purpose of the tests are to provide teachers with information about where students are at in their learning. Teachers use this data to differentiate their instruction, provide targeted interventions for individuals and groups of students and to track learning growth for individual students across the years. If you would like more information about the tests, please go to https://www.acer.org/au/pat.
The online tests will take place in the College Hall. Students do not need to do anything to prepare for these tests, apart from ensuring they have a charged laptop and a pen each day. Students in Years 9 and 10 are required to bring their calculator to use for the maths test on Tuesday 9 February. The schedule for the tests is as follows:
The results of the tests are for teacher use and are not shared with students and parents unless it is helpful to do so. They do not contribute to students’ grades for reporting.
Another benefit of these tests is our ability to compare student achievement against national expected levels achievement for students in the same year group. Our staff use the data to identify the students who may need additional support or those who require extension, and then determine the most appropriate high impact strategy to address the need.
If you have any questions about these tests, please contact the College.
