Care & Share / Relay For Life

CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS
I am asking for anyone who wants to volunteer for the Care & Share Program for 2015 to please complete the attached form below.
However, please note that if you have already emailed Amanda during the holidays, you do not to complete the form.
For those of you who don’t know what the Care & Share Program entails, here is a quick explanation.
This program is designed to help out families within the school community who have been struck down with severe illness or hardship. It involves compiling a list of volunteers the coordinator can call upon if required. When you put your name on the list of volunteers, you state what you are volunteering for – e.g. cooking, baking, gardening, child minding, shopping, walking the family dog, mowing the lawn, etc. A roster is then complied and either emailed or a hard copy will be given to your eldest child via the classroom.
Normally you might be required to volunteer once a term.
Even though you might already have your name down on last year’s list of volunteers, you will still be required to fill out another form for 2015, as I need to update your child’s grade or you may have changed your mind about volunteering.
If you have any questions about being a volunteer for this fantastic program, please don’t hesitate in calling Amanda Daemen on 0412 329 605.
RELAY FOR LIFE
Last year, in October, MPS participated in our local Relay For Life for the fourth year in a row. Our team consisted of many parents, teachers and students from all levels.
This event is held annually at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve for a 24 hour period, and our team has to keep our baton going around the track for the whole 24 hours constantly. A roster of many people come down to help out for an hour at a time and some have even camped out for the night! Heaps of fun is had by all involved!
Along with walking / running around the track, we also fundraised on behalf of the Cancer Council. We raised $5,157.15 as a team. Over the past four years, this now brings our total of fundraising up to nearly $19,000.
This has been a great effort and our team has been growing in numbers over the years. This year I am very lucky to have the assistance of two other mums who want to help out in making this year, our fifth Annual Relay For Life, a very special one.
This year's date to mark on your calendar is ..
Saturday 11 & Sunday 11 October 2015
If you THINK you MIGHT want to be a part of the team this year, please complete the attached form and return it to the office so that we can put you on our email list to keep you updated with information, dates and times so you can be part of the fun!!
Congratulations to all involved last year - a job well done with so much money being raised!
If anyone has any questions or if you want more information about the event, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
