2021 marks the beginning of another exciting school year in the Middles.

We have 2 co-Sub–School Leaders in Daniel Moloney (Mondays and Wednesdays) and Linda Wakeling (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). With 9 new classrooms, our staff are supporting our students to settle into their new routines and spaces.

We welcome 2 new teaching staff to Middles: Jennifer Hayward (Room 12) and Ashley Stace (Room 14) who bring great knowledge and experience from other specialist education settings. We wish them the best of luck in their journey with us here at JSA.

My name is Linda Wakeling, this year I have the fantastic opportunity of being a Middle years Sub School Leader as well as the Literacy Specialist. I am looking forward to working with all the students and staff in the middle years. I have been teaching at Jacana for three years. I started in the secondary sub school then came to the middle years. I enjoy getting to know all the students and working out ways to help them.

When I was younger I wanted to be a vet. I did work experience and found out that this wasn’t quite as glamourous as I had pictured. When I left school I started working at a local special school as an ES. I found this work to be very rewarding and challenging. I then decided to teach so that I could help students learn and be the best they can be. After graduating my Bachelor of Education, I decided I wanted to further my studies by completing my Masters of Education in Special Educational Needs. I now know that I have a passion for teaching and supporting students with special needs and their families.

This year I am looking forward to school events like Jacanarama, house events and Wakikiri. I am really enjoying seeing what each of the Middle Year classes are doing and supporting them in both my roles.
