Facilities Coordinator

Welcome to 2021. My name is Frances Hansen and I am the Facilities Coordinator for Term 1 2021.

Lots has happened around the school during the 2020/2021 term break. The Playground 1 shade sails are looking great. The front office, primary corridor and rooms are looking fresh with a new coat of paint. New blinds have been installed in the Secondary rooms and have given these rooms a lift. New doors have been installed between the Admin and primary corridor.

There has been a re organisation of rooms and office spaces around the school. A container has been installed in the car park for storage for Therapy. This will enable an office space to be created for PE staff. A new Media Arts room has been created and is being fitted out with new furniture in the coming weeks.

In the last 2 weeks of January, new drainage was installed in the oval area, in front of Rooms 14 and 15 and in the garden area near the Therapy Office. The works made a difference to all areas during Friday’s rain. More drainage work will be occurring around the school in 2021.

More works are planned for the oval and other areas during the Term 1 holidays watch this space for updates and photos.

Student uniform

As per the email sent last week, the remaining 2020 student uniform order is in transit, it should arrive this week and will be distributed as soon as possible.

Capital Works Program.

We have just completed the draft of the School Assets Management Plan 1 which is the first step in the planning  process for the school upgrade.

Section 1 identified three future teaching and learning challenges:

  • To improve student learning gain in Reading and multimodal texts
  • To improve student learning gain in Mathematics
  • To improve student voice and agency in their learning.

It also identified three opportunities:

  • Develop significant integrated program from F-12 that will lead to post school options.
  • Extend Practical and Hands on Learning Programs within the School
  • Develop opportunities for more independent self-regulation

Section 2 was Educational specifications where we discussed what we would see in 10 years time in terms of:

  1. Learners and learning are central
  2. Schools are community hubs
  3. Diversity is celebrated
  4. Welcoming environments
