Junior Resource Centre News

Welcome to all the Year 7 students and other new students throughout the school!  We look forward to seeing you all in the Junior Resource Centre (JRC) this year.  We are always here to help with any problems!

Year 7 Borrowing

Year 7 students will be unable to borrow books until their library accounts are set up – usually about three weeks after school commencement.  In the interim, they can select a book to be stored in the library for reading classes, or bring a book from home.  We are hoping they will have access to their ePlatform (eBook library) accounts over the next couple of weeks, so they will also have the option of downloading an eBook on their laptops.

Lunchtime/Recess Activities

On hot weather days the JRC is the coolest place to be at recess and lunchtime!  We have lots of board games on offer, grab a book, get on the web or just have a chat with friends.

Library Loans

Just a reminder that library loans are for two  weeks only and students are expected to renew or return their books after this time.  Whilst we don’t charge overdue fines, if your book is long overdue you will need to pay for a replacement.  Students will receive reminder emails two days prior (Reminder Notice), three days and 14 days to their loans being overdue, which makes keeping up to date easier.  After this point parents will be contacted.  Replacement costs for overdue books from 2020 will be invoiced

WoW! Words On Wheels Initiative

In order to support the teaching and learning of all staff and students in the VCE Campus, a mobile library will be bringing VCE texts, study guides, support material and study skills to the Presentation Space in 2021.  While hours will be limited initially to Wednesday Period 2, our Teacher Librarian Tonia Hast and incredibly helpful Librarian Michelle Snooks will always be available for online advice and requests for print and digital resources.

Remember, additional help and resources are also available at the JRC which is staffed all day and Homework Club which is open to ALL students in the JRC from 3.30 to 4.30 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, Frankston Library has a huge number of free print and digital resources as well as online tutoring services available.
