Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is my first newsletter as Principal of St James.  I feel so very honoured to have been entrusted with this position.  I hold St James school and all its members, staff, students and school families near and dear to my heart.  I'm very excited about the future and Iook forward to sharing this and working with you all as this new era at St James begins.

At my interview I shared  two wishes; one for the students and one for the parents. If the excitement and positive energy demonstrated in the last 48 hours  are any indication I dare say my wishes are already coming true!

The first wish is for the students:

May you come to school each day filled with energy and excitement as though it was your first day of school.  May you never lose the energy and excitement for learning.  Enjoy each day making new friends and working with your teachers and other students.  May you appreciate that learning will be fun filled and challenging.  May you continue to grow as individuals, trusting one another and creating treasured memories together.

The second wish is for the parents:

As the first educators in your child’s life, may you continue to encourage your child to do their very best each day. May you celebrate their successes and support and encourage the times when they feel challenged.  May St James School support you in your journey, as we work together for the benefit of your children, so that they may be equipped with the skills, knowledge and a healthy mindset to be responsible global citizens.

Yesterday was the most memorable with the staff and students planning so many little surprises for me.

  • A guard of honour leading into the school, a welcome sign, balloons, flowers and to top it off, a Principal sash and crown!
  • The staff put on a lovely morning tea for me.  The students did not miss out as we had a picnic with Icy poles and Zooper Doopers at lunch time.

I was quite teary the entire day and overwhelmed with the many congratulations, kind and caring words, emails and messages that I received.  Heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this such a special day for me and the school.

Principal Conference in Darwin

Next week I will be travelling to Darwin with the South Central Principals, as we embark on a learning journey to further deepen our knowledge and understanding about Indigenous perspectives. I look forward to sharing my learning with you all.  Whilst I am away, I leave the school in the hands of my very capable two Deputies, Emma Herbert and Georgia McNamara.

In case you missed the email, please find attached the official correspondence from the Regional Manager Deb Egan and Bayside Mission Priests.
